Step-by-step
- Paste or type the page copy
- Optionally enter a focus keyword or phrase
- Review live density, ranked terms, and stuffing guidance
Worked example
A 200-word article that uses “keyword density” four times shows about 4% coverage for that two-word phrase (4 × 2 / 200).
Use cases
- Check a focus keyword after writing a blog post
- Spot repeated phrases that read like stuffing
- Compare one-word, two-word, and three-word term frequency
Frequently asked questions
How is keyword density calculated?
Coverage is (times the phrase appears × words in the phrase) ÷ total words × 100. A two-word phrase used twice in 100 words is 4%.
What density should I aim for?
There is no official ranking percentage. Many drafts land around 0.5–2.5% for a focus phrase. Treat higher figures as a readability warning, not a score to maximize.
Does this tool send my copy anywhere?
No. Tokenizing, counting, and highlighting all run locally in your browser.
