Introduction
Audit a sitemap.xml or sitemap index without uploading files. Enter a site URL to check robots.txt and common sitemap paths, or paste XML directly. The analyser counts URLs, finds duplicate locs, mixed HTTP/HTTPS, trailing-slash inconsistencies, and invalid lastmod or priority values.
Step-by-step
- Enter a site or sitemap URL and click Detect sitemap (or paste XML)
- Review document type, counts, and severity-tagged issues
- For a sitemap index, use Fetch on nested locs or export URL/issue CSV
Worked example
A urlset with 4 locs where one URL is repeated and another uses http:// will report duplicate-loc and http-locs warnings while still listing every URL.

Frequently asked questions
Does this fetch my live sitemap URL?
Yes, optionally. Detect sitemap reads robots.txt Sitemap lines and tries common paths like /sitemap.xml in your browser. Many sites block cross-origin fetches (CORS); if detect fails, paste the XML instead. Analysis itself stays local.
Does it check whether each URL returns 200?
No. This tool validates sitemap structure and URL hygiene in the XML. HTTP status checks for every loc are out of scope.
Is my sitemap sent to Bestrao?
No. Fetch goes from your browser to the target site. Parsing and reporting run entirely in your browser.
