How it worksShow guide

Introduction

Pick a source IANA time zone and a civil date-time. The same instant is shown in UTC and any cities you add. Offsets and a six-month DST shift hint are computed locally — nothing is uploaded.

Step-by-step

  1. Choose the source zone and the local date-time there
  2. Add destination cities from the IANA list
  3. Copy the table or the UTC instant

Worked example

Midnight 1 January 2020 in UTC is 05:30 the same morning in Asia/Kolkata (offset +05:30). The Unix seconds for that instant are 1577836800.

Use cases

  • Schedule a call across New York, London, and Kolkata
  • Check whether a meeting falls during a DST change
  • Copy ISO-8601 strings with the correct offset

Frequently asked questions

What is an IANA time zone?

A region identifier such as America/New_York or Asia/Kolkata. It includes historical DST rules, unlike a fixed UTC+5:30 label.

Can a local time be ambiguous?

Yes, near a DST fold the same clock time can map to two instants. Prefer an ISO string with an offset when that matters.

Does this use my network?

No. Conversion uses the browser’s Intl time-zone data. Keep the OS time-zone database reasonably current.
